Epworth Music Day
Polly Brown and
Keith Duke
Ruth Lee began to study harp aged nearly 15 with Eleanor Turner after having studied clarinet, saxophone, piano and singing. She has gained Grade 8 in both clarinet and saxophone and now continues to study for her Diploma in clarinet. She also performs with the Lincolnshire Youth Symphony, Wind and Concert Orchestras and has a keen interest in solo and group performance as well as composition. She has won the Harp Composition competition at the Royal Leamington Spa Harp Festival for the last two consecutive years. So far Ruth has raised around half-a-thousand pounds for the National Brain Appeal by organising her own charity concerts.
I've been fiddling for some eight years now and was inspired by Carol Dawson, widely acclaimed fiddler who it was my privilege to meet.
I love to fiddle!!
I'm not a violinist, simply a fiddler who loves to play jigs, reels and airs. I play with a ceilidh band, Major Kelly's Band (named after my dad) and also belong to North Lincolnshire Fiddle Club.
More recently, I am making music with Keith Duke in terms of fiddle, voices, guitar and symphonie. I also head up a tots n tinies Action Rhyme & Song sesh (with parents) on Friday mornings in Brigg at The Steel Rooms. I'm so looking forward to performing at Epworth's Music Day!!
